(Chapter 7: More on Paint); Parts of the Paint Windows,Tool group,Pencil tool,Brushes tool,Text tool,Color Picker Tool

Paint is also a program that can be used to draw and paint on the computer.

This is the icon of the Paint program.Double click on the icon to open it.

Parts of the Paint Window

The main parts of a Paint window are given below:

•  Tabs – It contains commands and tools to work.
• Title bar – It shows the name of the drawing.It appears at the top of the window.
• Quick Access Toolbar – It contains the most frequently used tools in paint.
• Ribbon-Groups of commands together
•  Group – It is a set of tools which do similar work.
• Drawing Area – It is a blank area where you can draw and paint.

Tools Group

This group contains different tools such as Pencil, eraser, Fill with Color, Text, Brushes etc.

Pencil Tool

The Pencil tool is used to draw with a free hand. To draw using the Pencil tool, follow these steps:

Step 1 – Click on Home tab.

Step 2 – Click on Pencil tool  in the Tools group.

Step 3 – Choose a colour from the Colors group.

Step 4 – Move the pointer to the drawing area and drag the mouse to draw.

Brushes Tool

Brushes tool is used to create free hand drawing. There are nine types of brushes in Paint. To draw using the brushes tool,

Follow these steps:

Step 1 – Click on Home tab.

Step 2 – Click on the arrow below the Brushes tool. You see different types of brushes.

Step 3 – Click on the brush that you want to use.

Step 4 – Choose a colour from the Colors group.

Color Picker Tool

As the name suggests, the Color picker tool is used to pick a colour from the picture and use it to colour.

To use Color picker tool, follow these steps:

Step 1 – Draw any figure or shape. Fill colour in it. Here, we have drawn a girl with orange T-Shirt and blue colour  skirt.

Step 2 – Click on Color picker tool  in the Tools group.

Step 3 – Move the mouse pointer to blue colour and pick blue color from it, The pointer changes to Fill with color tool bucket and the Color 1 changes to blue.

Step 4 – Move the pointer to the star and click once.

The colour of the cloud changes to blue.

Text Tool

To write a message in Paint we use the Text tool.

 Follow these steps to write a message.

Step 1 – Click on Home tab.

Step 2 – Click on Text tool from the Tools group.

Step 3 – Drag the mouse pointer to the drawing area and click where you want to write the text. A text box appears with the cursor blinking on it.

Step 4 – Type your text in the text box. When done, click anywhere outside the text box to end.
